Blockstream, a leading Bitcoin infrastructure company, has announced the formation of a formalized research team with a focus on advancing the platforms at the core of the Bitcoin ecosystem. The goal is to tackle complex problems and push the boundaries of what’s possible with Bitcoin.
Projects in Progress
The team is currently engaged in multiple projects. These include creating a more robust programming language (Simplicity) as an alternative to Bitcoin Script; Miniscript for safer language writing; Elements Script for covenant opcodes; Cross Input Signature Aggregation (CISA/XISA) for efficient digital signatures; MuSig2 for improved multisig transactions; and Scriptless Scripts for smart contract execution off-chain.
